'Exquisite attention to detail’. This attitude is reflected in everything
you experience at VERSES. From the warm toned wood in the
architectural details, old and new, inviting you in, to the colours
chosen for the interior palette – subtle & daring – soft, serene, sky
blue with bold stripes of a red suited for royalty. No matter where
you choose to dine the vantage point is unique and stunning, full of
visual surprises and gorgeous layerings of simple, humble yet
elegant materials and objects – the roundness of a tulip petal echoed
in the curve of the stools gathered around the bar; light pouring
through the jewel coloured stained glass windows that salute each
other at either end of the sanctuary bounces off the multitude of
glassware placed with reverence on each table.
Debbie McFadden and Brett Shantz, former owner and operators of ‘Select Service Catering’ spent a year looking for the perfect place to open a fine dining establishment in Kitchener. Now, their acquistion of the former New Apostolic Church on Victoria Street North seems preordained.
What at first glance might seem an odd choice – conversion of a
church to a restaurant – begins to make perfect sense once you walk
into VERSES vestibule. At one time a congregation came to
fellowship, breaking bread together with a communion of spirit. With
the exception of the addition of tables in place of pews not much has
changed. VERSES encourages its guests to stay and linger with their
dining companions, the food and the ambience the inspiration for
conversation and sharing with each other. |
